Traditional Mochi Pounding Experience in Rural Fukui

Enjoy a traditional mochi-pounding experience in a classic Japanese farmhouse, along with an all-you-can-eat mochi plan. Mochi-pounding is a well-known part of Japanese culture and is often performed during celebrations and special occasions.

Mochi is made from specially prepared rice that is repeatedly pounded and kneaded using traditional tools called a kine (wooden mallet) and an usu (mortar), creating its distinctive chewy texture. Guided by local experts—true mochi-pounding professionals—you can experience this unique aspect of Japanese food culture firsthand.

Once the mochi is ready, you can enjoy it on the spot with a variety of different seasonings and flavors.
